Consignor runs Scandinavia's most used platform for Transport Administration. Our solutions has the largest carrier library in the world.
Some perspectives on integration
Building a shipment, creating a shipment label, creating an EDI message and sending it to a carrier is a complex task.
Consignor makes this easy. Integration with other systems is normally a key word. Depending on the situation there are several strategies for integration that should be taken into consideration.
This Web Service is designed for high volume users, who want a dispatch and print solution built into other systems. The idea is that calling system only provides a few key data elements, and the rest of the shipment is build based on Actor ID setup and the Consignor algorithms.
Why is this smart?
This web service is a hosted web service that can build a shipment and deliver a ready to print label in milliseconds.
Off course you can develop integration towards a transport company. It’s just a matter of time and resources. But what most realize when they are done, is that they have tied themselves closely to that transport company. Your company is locked in, and you will have a hard time adjusting your carrier mix.
With a connection to the Consignor Platform, you can always choose among the best carriers in the market. Best of all: Maintenance of the system is our responsibility.
Logistic companies know that labeling and dispatch routine is time consuming. They also know that wrong parcel to the wrong customer means a lot of hazel, bad will and lose of money. The routine has to been trimmed to the last mouse click. The data will be transferred in the correct carrier specific format.
There are several ways to do the labeling routine. You can use the fat Windows Client, WEB, the web service Shipment Server or even a mix of them all.
With Shipment Server you can run the best from two worlds. You can integrate Shipment server in your business process. Still you have the freedom to choose carrier.
Consignor Shipment Server is a hosted service in the cloud. Just a few code lines and you are up and running.
What about Setup?
In a shipment business process, there is a lot of information that will be repeated over and over again. This kind of information is stored in a Setup provided and hosted by Consignor. Examples are Customer number at carrier, terminal for delivery, agent number, product codes, number ranges etc. All this information is tested together with the carrier upfront, before production start. The information is stored under an Actor ID.
Before using this Web Service you should contact Consignor in order to have a proper Actor Id up and running.
A new actor will also need to pass test procedure according between Consignor and the transport companies. This is normally handled by Consignor, and secures high quality when solution is put into production.
Who could benefit from using Web service – and who could not?
Consignor is strongly committed to the carrier's validation rules. The data will often enroll directly into carrier's back-end system, and must meet high quality standards. Most carriers are specialized in geographical areas or by weight volume limitations. These rules are built into Consignor web services, and calling systems must plan for a proper error handling.
Using Consignor Web service is often used for handling high volume main stream parcel labels. More complex shipment building for part or full load is often recommended to
use the Consignor GUI that are designed for advanced shipment building.
