EU’s new Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has entered into force. All businesses in the EU and the EEA must conform to this regulation. The regulation requires that roles be determined:
Who owns the data, and who processes the data?
Data created on the Consignor Platform in relation to shipment generation always belongs to our clients – not Consignor. Role determination is straightforward: as data owner it is your responsibility to decide for how long, and where, to store your data. It is the responsibility of Consignor to safeguard the data you store with us.
At Consignor we have invested substantial sums in making this simple for you. If you want to store your data yourself, you can export and delete them from Consignor Portal at any time. If, as more than 95 % of our customers, you still want to store your data with Consignor, then we will store it in conformity with strict security requirements that conform to the EU Directive. All stored data is available to you on fast servers, and in a matter of seconds, you can search through shipments and statistics many years back. All data is backed up on an ongoing basis, and we do everything to avoid your data falling into the wrong hands.
Should I do anything else in this context?
No. If you don’t do anything, we will be sure to store your data securely in our environment. We store the current and preceding years at no cost. We bill later years together with our licence invoicing.
What are the benefits of storing my data in Consignor?
At Consignor Portal we will continue to develop tools for analysing the data you keep. The purpose of this is to give you a good insight in your shipment patterns while securing your transaction data in order to conform to the Accounting Act.
How do I manage my data in Consignor?
We have made it easy for you to manage your data directly in Consignor Portal.
